My Christmas Tree

Walking through Washington Square late the other night, a saxaphone player was playing off to the side in the dark, his sax case laying open - and practically empty - in front of him. If only he knew the natural acoustics and lighting directly under the monument would give him his very own stage. My hands were freezing but I had to stay awhile and take some pictures!

The pictures have a reality for me that the people don't. It is through the photographs that I know them. - Richard Avedon

Sometimes people come in your life at precisely the best time. I met Julianne when she was modeling at an event I attended, and we shot together a few days later. This shoot is the fourth time we've worked together and the shots keep getting better! Love, love, love her new hair color and I am wishing her good luck at her open calls this week!

You don't take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it. ~Author Unknown

When Jessica and I started talking about taking some "sexy photographs" as a Christmas present for her boyfriend Ed, we threw around tons of ideas. We both remembered the Jennifer Aniston spread in Vanity Fair and decided to go with a similar clean, wrapped in a white sheet look. We had fun and Jessica is absolutely beautiful - inside and out!

We shot in natural morning light and mostly in black and white.

Sunday football will never be the same!

Jessica succeeded at sneaking Ed's Marine combat boots and hat out the door for the shoot!

An Affair to Remember (for Maggie)

Maggie and Joe deepened their love affair while I was in Hawaii over the Thanksgiving holiday:

I was nervous to leave her this time around - I got over it as the plane touched down and I heard "Mahalo" and "Aloha." Joe sent me pictures throughout the week and it became clear Maggie was having just as much fun as me!!

Maggie loves Joe!

In the Studio

One of the things I love about New York is the plethora of creative people. It seems that everywhere I turn, I find like-minds. When I had some extra studio time to burn this weekend, it took a mere hour to gather a team to shoot some tests!

Washington Square Park critter

In the midst of this morning's portraiture session in Washington Square Park, we encountered this little critter:

(apparently, he was camera shy.)

Joe and I decided to embody Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgewick for Halloween.

In Class with Andrea Blanch

As I was walking home from my 3rd class at ICP with Andrea Blanch, the idea for next week's assignment came to my mind very clearly. The assignment? To produce a controversial ad campaign:

I enrolled Adam and my new friend Julianne and we shot Sunday morning in my apartment with natural lighting. Julianne is 18 years old and just moved to NYC to further her modeling career! Adam was such a great sport for being willing to wear the hot pink panties and I should add he went to church with Alex right after the shoot!
